
UPDATE (12/17/2010): Google has recently integrated local and organic listings in many search results. The same strategies apply, but the format/delivery has changed.
PPC (Pay-Per-Click): These listings can be obtained instantly. The cost depends on the placement and competition, paid every time someone clicks on your ad.
Local: Google Maps results have there own ranking system independent of the organic rankings. Only valid for businesses with physical addresses. There is no fee to obtain rankings here.
Organic (Natural, SEO): The most complicated and the most rewarding. These results are free and take time to develop. Receives the highest amount of traffic of the three. The first organic position, on average, receives 41% of all clicks. |
